Requirement
The Glenmorangie bottling plant at Alba, Livingston were experiencing high energy costs and concerns with temperature changes across the estate. With a BeMS platform in place controlling the site operationally, Alba was looking for a standalone solution that could monitor energy and temperature to allow for further investigations to breakdown the site and look for ways to be more efficient and to provide a better user experience for staff and visitors.
What Zenergi Group did
Zenergi Group were selected to install an AM&T platform that would initially monitor the temperatures within the offices throughout the building. We were able to identify immediately that the temperatures were reaching 25 + degrees C. With the temperature sensors wireless and positioned within the offices we were able to reduce the temperature settings within the BeMS taking into account the positioning of the office windows.
The savings achieved from a simple reduction in temperature was 6% on the Gas consumption.
The next steps were to monitor the Compressors. The site has a mix of large and small compressors managed by Babcock and that would switch between them depending on demand. We found the large compressor was left on for a longer period than required. We were quickly able to arrange for the correct controls to allow for further reduced consumption. In addition to the savings above, the site at Alba was closed due to the coronavirus outbreak. We worked closely with the site to ensure the building, compressor, AHU’s were reduced in accordance with occupancy. We were able to confirm a saving of 59% on Electricity and 52% on Gas.
