Competition: Zenergi’s harvest festival of scarecrows!

Competition: Zenergi’s harvest festival of scarecrows!

Help us celebrate Recycle Week and recognise the hard work of key workers and citizens to keep recycling going and create positive change around us. Now in its 17th year, Recycle Week’s theme for 2020 is ‘Together – We Recycle’. It celebrates the nation’s efforts in continuing to recycle despite the challenges that COVID-19 has presented and thanks the recycling and waste key workers who continued collecting while the world slowed down.

Many of us used lockdown as an opportunity to spend more time outdoors and in growing our own fruit and vegetables, and we were delighted so many of you joined in our sunflower growing competition, #readyzengrow. Now we’re asking you to spread some Autumn sunshine by helping us to create a virtual community of scarecrows that celebrates a more sustainable future.

What do you have lying around that you can #ReduceReuseReScarecrow? Send us a photo of your scarecrow in all its glory before The Harvest Moon on 1 October and we’ll announce the winner on Friday 2 October.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Create a sturdy frame for your scarecrow – do you have any bamboo canes, or redundant garden tools, like a broom or rake?
  • What old clothes do you have that are too unfit to pass on but would make a perfect body filled with straw or leaves?

Be as creative as you like! The winning entry will receive Zenergi Eco goodies and their creation put up in lights (on zen’s social media)…good luck everyone! Send photos of your finished scarecrow to jenny@zenergi.co.uk.
