Display Energy Certificate
Display Energy Certificates (DECs) were created to demonstrate the energy performance of public buildings, including schools and educational institutes. Their purpose was to raise awareness of unnecessary consumption and to encourage energy reduction. Similar to electrical appliance ratings, buildings are given a rating between A-G, with ‘A’ demonstrating high-energy efficiency and ‘G’ low efficiency.
Taking this compliance requirement one step further, Zenergi can provide a DEC Optimisation report that identifies potential financial savings for your school or business. Zenergi initially developed this service for the Department of Energy and Climate Change head office building in London, in the process successfully improving their DEC rating from a G to a C. Using the DEC positively in this way could save an average primary school over £3000 per year, whilst an average secondary school could save in excess of £7000 per year.
If you chose to act on the report, we have the technical services to advise on funding application routes, as well as providing the business plan.
