Despite having a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) already in place to centrally manage energy use, Glenmorangie sought a more focused solution to improve efficiency, reduce costs and create a more comfortable environment for their team. They engaged Zenergi to do an energy management audit, look beyond the obvious and find strategic optimisations that would deliver meaningful results.
Working collaboratively with the Glenmorangie team, we installed an Automatic Monitoring and Targeting (AM&T) submetering platform to track temperatures and energy consumption across the facility. We zeroed in on some key areas for improvement including temperature sensors, compressor controls and opportunities to tailor energy consumption directly to occupancy. This data-driven approach allowed us to adjust specifics rather than implementing generic solutions, ensuring every change would deliver maximum impact.

Our targeted approach to energy efficiency transformed Glenmorangie’s operations:
Temperature control: We discovered temperatures were regularly exceeding 25°C, largely due to the location of wireless temperature sensors. By strategically repositioning these sensors, we achieved an immediate 6% reduction in gas consumption through more accurate temperature control.
Compressor optimisation: We identified that their large compressor was operating longer than required. By implementing smarter controls, we significantly reduced excess energy consumption from the compressors.
Pandemic response: During the site closure due to COVID-19, we collaborated closely with the Glenmorangie team to minimise energy consumption by ensuring the building systems, compressors and air handling units (AHUs) were adjusted in line with reduced occupancy.
Comfort and savings: The improvements delivered both enhanced comfort and remarkable energy savings – a 59% reduction in electricity consumption and a 52% reduction in gas consumption.
