Wellington School could make an energy saving of 4.7% of current consumption leading to a reduction of £5,185 in energy costs and a carbon reduction of 15.4 tCO2e in exchange for a capital spend of £2,000 – offering a fast return on investment. The low cost and no cost measures that offered this payback included better heating management, reducing energy wastage and training staff and students on energy efficiency.
The school also had the potential to reduce energy use by a total of 34% equating to annual savings of £31,720
Short-term savings, achievable within five years, involved repairing thermostatic valves and upgrading more lighting to LEDs.
