The global appetite for energy continues to accelerate. Industrial and economic growth is driving demand, while rapid advances in technology, particularly the rise of Artificial Intelligence, are consuming unprecedented amounts of electricity.
Ensuring that this demand is met with renewable energy, rather than fossil fuels, is critical if we are to decarbonise at pace.
Encouragingly, we are already seeing evidence of a fundamental shift in where our energy comes from, with renewable generation expanding and the cost per kWh falling.
Our climate is changing – and faster than expected. 2024 saw the planet warm by an average of 1.6ºC above pre-industrial levels, exceeding the much-discussed 1.5ºC threshold. If current trends continue, we could face a 3ºC temperature rise by the end of this century. The impacts are already visible: record-breaking heatwaves, devastating wildfires, severe droughts, and unseasonable storms are reshaping lives and landscapes around the world.
While political tensions and global conflicts dominate headlines, the most pressing and long-lasting challenge we face is climate change. Its effects will influence not just our generation, but many millennia to come. The need to reduce emissions and accelerate decarbonisation has never been more urgent.
At Zenergi, sustainability and decarbonisation remain at the core of everything we do. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, our strategy focuses on four pillars: Customers, Planet, People, and Community. Each represents a vital part of creating a fairer, greener energy system that supports both immediate needs and long-term prosperity."
