That’s why Vaughan Primary School partnered with Zenergi to explore energy-saving opportunities and create a strategy of measures. The school took the first step by embedding a culture of sustainability throughout the school. A team of energy ambassadors was formed – staff and students alike – to champion energy-saving practices. By integrating energy monitoring into maths lessons, they created an engaging way to make sustainability part of daily life.
But with energy costs climbing and net zero goals becoming more pressing, Vaughan Primary School knew it wasn’t enough. The school wanted to uncover additional savings through an Energy Audit.
Zenergi’s Energy Audit provided a clear roadmap for improving energy efficiency. It identified opportunities to decarbonise the heating system and recommended a range of initiatives to tackle energy waste. For every recommendation, the report included projected costs, savings, carbon reduction, and return on investment.
The report showed Vaughan Primary School that even simple, low-cost changes could yield big benefits. By implementing the suggested initiatives, the school could save more than £3,000 annually, covering the cost of the audit itself.
One of the most impactful findings of the audit was what LED lighting across the school could offer. By upgrading its lighting, the school is set to save £2,950 annually.
