Our Carbon Reduction Plan: We’re committed to achieving net zero

At Zenergi, we recognise the urgent need for carbon reduction and are fully committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. As a trusted energy consultancy, we not only help our customers decarbonise but also lead by example in reducing our own carbon footprint.

Our baseline emissions footprint

Understanding our emissions is the foundation of our net zero strategy. Our baseline year is 2022, selected to reflect a typical post-COVID-19 operating period and to incorporate accurate Scope 3 data. We have also adjusted our baseline to include our acquisitions of DB Group (Europe) Limited and Powerful Allies, ensuring a transparent and comprehensive emissions profile.

We continuously monitor our emissions and recalculate our baseline when necessary to account for significant changes in company structure or improved data accuracy.

Our carbon reduction targets

We have set clear and measurable goals to achieve net zero in two key phases:

  • Scope 1 & 2 emissions: Achieve net zero by 2025 (market-based approach).
  • Scope 3 emissions: Achieve net zero by 2050, using 2022 as our base year.

We are committed to transparency and accountability, tracking our progress against these targets and continuously refining our approach to drive meaningful reductions.

Our carbon reduction achievements

We have already made significant progress in reducing our emissions, implementing various carbon reduction projects across our operations:

Scope 1 and 2 progress

  • 24% reduction in emissions from 2022 to 2023 (-37 tCO2e).
  • Reduced energy consumption by 23,961 kWh (electricity) and 21,594 kWh (natural gas).
  • Transitioned all remaining offices to 100% renewable energy in 2024.
  • Exploring decarbonisation options for heating systems at key locations.

Scope 3 progress

  • Business travel: Reduced emissions from employee-owned vehicles by 10% while improving emissions tracking for flights.
  • Employee commuting: Achieved a 17% reduction in emissions, with:
    • Petrol and diesel usage decreasing from 88% (2022) to 68% (2023).
    • Battery electric vehicle use increasing from 2% to 9%.
    • Public transport use rising from 6% to 13%.

These results show a tangible shift in employee habits, aligning with our long-term sustainability goals.

Governance and compliance

Our Carbon Reduction Plan adheres to PPN 06/21 guidelines and aligns with the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard. We report our emissions in accordance with SECR requirements and relevant Scope 3 standards.
