Investors in People
Back in August we achieved ‘We Invest in People (IIP)’ accreditation. We were delighted to be awarded Silver, as only 15% of organisations who are assessed achieve that level!
Our overall survey results showed that Zenergi outperformed the average benchmark for all IIP accredited organisations, meaning our people are more positive than many others within the IIP community. This is hugely encouraging and demonstrates the strength of our core Zen values.
Our CEO, Graham Cooke, said: “We have always believed that the Zen Way is special and it is great to have an independent assessment and recognition of our approach. This is very much the start of the journey though and whilst a first-time result of silver is fantastic, we are committed to working on the recommendations and advice provided by Investors in People to ensure we continue to be the best we can be.”
Regional Energy Efficiency Awards
In September, we took home the award for ‘Small Project of the Year’ at the West Midlands Energy Efficiency Awards. This award recognised Briar’s work on Wolverhampton University’s Carbon Management plan, which identified 242 carbon saving opportunities throughout the estate. During the night, we were also commended for ‘Large Project of the Year’, following the complete refurbishment of Henley Green Medical Centre.
At the South East Energy Efficiency Awards, our work on Victoria Point Apartments, implementing LED lighting, EV charging points and centralised heating systems, was commended for ‘Large Project of the Year’. Great work team!
Big Sustainability Awards
In October we were awarded ‘Project of the Year in Education’ at the Southern Sustainability Partnership’s Big Sustainability Awards. This award recognised our successes in helping schools decarbonise their buildings.
We were also shortlisted for ‘Public Sector Project of the Year’ and ‘Energy Efficiency Project of the Year’ for our work delivering strategic decarbonisation and energy saving measures.
The awards night was hosted on the doorstep of our head office, offering the opportunity for many of the team to attend and celebrate the achievement.
The Green Organisation
In November we were awarded a silver Green Apple Award for Best Environmental Practice in the Carbon Reduction category. This recognised our work helping one of our public sector customers to decarbonise 93 buildings, including 56 schools.
With our team’s help, the client was successfully awarded over £24 million of Salix funding to implement solar PV; LED lighting, Air Source Heat Pumps and more.
The award was collected by Chris Dayus from our technical division, Briar, and our Chief Sustainability officer, Jamie Hall.
The National SME Business Awards
We were pleased to be selected as a finalist for ‘Employer of the year’ at the National SME Business Awards. The nomination recognises businesses’ dedication to looking after their people and how this directly affects the business as a result.
Katie, our Head of People and Compliance, and Mel, our Group Financial Controller attended the ceremony at Wembley Stadium and had a great night!
