Zenergi in Focus: Interview With A Data Specialist

Zenergi in Focus: Interview with a Data Specialist

At Zenergi we believe that our people are our best asset. We pride ourselves on our family feel and supporting our staff to do their jobs to the best of their ability, supported by training through our comprehensive training and development programme.

We’ve interviewed some of our current employees to help give a feel for what it’s like to work at Zenergi. Next up is Chloe, one of our Data Specialists.

So, Chloe, how long have you been part of the Zenergi Team?

“In total, I’ve been with Zenergi almost a year and a half and in my current role for 9 months. I was initially employed for 6 months, went to Uni and then returned to the Zenergi family!”

What previous experience or roles did you have before joining Zenergi?

“Before joining Zenergi I had no prior energy experience (or experience working full time!); my previous jobs were weekend or summer jobs to support studies, but I adapted favourably to the 9-5 lifestyle.”

What was the reason you chose to join Zenergi?

“Working in a friendly and encouraging environment is important to me and I got those vibes from Zenergi almost the moment I walked through the door!”

Before we look at some specific questions, could you tell me a little more about your role and what day-to-day life is like at Zenergi?

“My day-to-day role includes obtaining invoices from the suppliers, validating them (to make sure they have been billed correctly) and sending these to customers. If the bills are wrong, we look into why so some problem solving is involved”

When you first started what kind of support were you given?

“On top of the thorough induction training, everyone was very keen to share their varied industry knowledge and I never felt silly asking questions. If anything, it was encouraged! I spent time with some of the team shadowing which helped me get to know them.”

What qualities and skills do you believe make a successful Data Specialist?

“I would say someone who has attention to detail, a willingness to learn, is flexible and likes to keep busy!”

What would you say is the best part of your role?

“The team! We have a good group of people and we all like a giggle.  Also, there is always something new to learn with many training courses available and there are opportunities to develop and grow within the business.”

What would you say is the most difficult part of your role?

“We have peaks in a month’s bill run so sometimes it is busy and non-stop, but keeping an organised mind and being able to prioritise helps to keep on top of everything.”

How do you find the work-life balance at Zenergi?

“I think the work-life balance is right and it’s an enjoyable environment to work in. We work hard but like to have fun and we have regular outings, in and out of work”

What are your favourite things about working at Zenergi?

“Zenergi offers great employee benefits. Annually we can choose from a list of these benefits, I chose a learning bursary which will allow me to learn something new in my free time. I chose piano for example, but could have chosen anything, I think this is a really unique benefit which shows Zenergi are encouraging people’s interests.

I feel they are a company who value their staff and their customers and are always pushing themselves to be even better.”

Lastly, what advice would you give anyone thinking of applying for a role at Zenergi?

“Go for it!”
