Zenergi has supported Royal Brompton and Harefield Clinical Group since 2006, providing annual Display Energy Certificates, Energy Audits and carbon reduction initiatives.
Our work on the building management system and variable-speed drives for the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system deliver annual emission savings of 80 tCO₂e – equating to an annual cost saving of around £20,000. This work was funded by a Salix grant which was facilitated through Zenergi.
LED lighting upgrades deliver annual emission savings of 49 tCO₂e, equating to savings of around £18,000 and all covered by £175,000 from the NHS Energy Efficiency Fund. Furthermore, we developed a Heat Decarbonisation Strategy that could be used to apply for funding under the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) or other funding sources. We also presented behavioural awareness training and good housekeeping initiatives which have been implemented across the group’s hospitals.
All this work has led to the creation of the Green Plan.
Prepared over an 18-month period, the Green Plan is a holistic net zero plan spanning building emissions and transport and also more wider-reaching areas including waste, procurement, patient and staff travel, medical gases and biodiversity. It details the group’s commitment to the Greener NHS programme targets, with clear KPIs enabling progress to be tracked.
