We had been looking after one of Broad Horizons Education Trust’s sites for three years, providing energy procurement and bill validation services.
In 2020, the Trust decided to find an alternative to the Public Sector Buying Organisation from which it had been procuring energy for its other schools. Following the achievement of competitive gas and electricity contracts that offered more flexibility and choice, Broad Horizons Education Trust moved its ten remaining Norfolk schools over to us to manage.
As we set up the new contracts and onboarded the schools, we spotted an issue. During the time the energy contracts had been handled by the Public Sector Buying Organisation, Broad Horizons Education Trust had been incorrectly charged Climate Change Levy (CCL) across its sites – and had been for several years.
Our team immediately stepped in to recover the significant overpayment. We provided the necessary VAT Declaration forms and guided the Trust through the process to successfully claim the refund.
Broad Horizons Education Trust has been able to take advantage of our wider service offering to access a full energy service across its sites. The holistic support includes invoice validation to ensure accurate billing, siteworks support for new connections, and Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and Recommendation Reports, keeping the Trust on top of its compliance obligations.
