ISBL NATIONAL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE 2020 – Headline Sponsor

ISBL National Virtual Conference 2020 – UNLEASHING POTENTIAL
10 -13 November 2020

Zenergi are once again the Headline Sponsor for the ISBL National Conference. This iconic event has moved to a virtual platform. Streamed across four mornings, the conference will offer access to more than 20 hours of high-quality CPD, with headline speakers, a range of workshops, access to exhibitors and an opportunity to interact with peers.

The ISBL national conference will focus on how SBM/ SBLs can unleash the potential from within themselves, their colleagues and with ISBLs help to allow for further growth and development and in turn further improve pupil outcomes and progress. We are preparing to deliver fun and interactive workshops, along with the launch of our exciting new game.

We will be running essential updates in the world of energy with sessions every morning at 10:05. Whether you want to understand how to manage the new challenge of both heating and ventilating your classrooms, how to access the new £1 billion Salix fund for school improvements, or get some inspiration for greening your school and engaging your pupils in energy saving, there is lots of useful and inspiring content and free resources when you register for this conference. See below for more info on what you can expect from us…

Overcoming a new challenge: Essential tips to safely heat and ventilate your building, plus a checklist to make sure you have energy compliance under control

Ed Horgan, Managing Director of Zenergi’s technical services division, Briar
Tuesday 10 November 10.05 – 10.30

SBPs are faced with a new challenge as we enter the winter months: how can you heat your building during cold weather, while also ensuring adequate ventilation to combat COVID-19? Join this session for the essential steps to ensure you are maintaining a safe environment for your pupils and staff. We’ll also look at the latest energy compliance requirements for schools, with a handy checklist to help make sure you have everything in hand. We’ll break down the requirements and help you identify your need to comply – from Display Energy Certificates (DECs) to TM44 Air Conditioning – understand your obligations and avoid penalties for non-compliance. This session will include a summary of the fast-approaching actions required for the new Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR) framework, which will affect many MATs for the first time this year.

How to access the new £1 billion Salix fund to finance school heat decarbonisation, building structure improvements and energy efficiency measures

Ed Horgan, Managing Director of Zenergi’s technical services division, Briar
Wednesday 11 November 10.05 – 10.30

This session will detail the Government’s new fund of £1 billion for public sector energy efficiency initiatives. We’ll outline the types of projects that are covered under the new fast-track scheme, and provide guidance on how we can help you to formulate and deliver an application. This session is essential for any school who can act quickly to deploy the grant to projects focused around heat decarbonisation, renewables and energy efficiency. Since the window for accessing the funding is very limited, we’ll outline the key dates and the urgent next steps required to enable schools the best chance of accessing it. We will also provide a summary of broader energy efficiency measures and building improvements that can be implemented alongside heat decarbonisation projects.

Are you prepared for Carbon Zero? How to start the journey to Energy Freedom

Graham Cooke, CEO & Richard Tandy, Head of Projects Division
Thursday 12 November 10.05 – 10.30

Inspired by how funding can help you to get started from yesterday’s session? Join us for an enlightening session helping you to identify opportunities that support your long term energy, infrastructure and sustainability objectives. Starting with the quick wins, we’ll look at those easy-to-implement energy saving technologies that provide a fast return on investment. We’ll cover the fast-growing technologies that can support your planning and help to design your legacy. We’ll also introduce you to our green school of the future; our vision for a class-leading energy efficient school leading the journey to net zero.

Educate the energy users of the future: How can we help you engage your pupils in energy saving?

Chris Jermy, Head of Business Development
Friday 13 November 10.05 – 10.30

The cheapest kWh is the one you don’t use, and yet many schools are held back from achieving the significant potential savings from simple day-to-day energy saving due to a lack of pupil and staff understanding and engagement. This session will help you to engage your people in a collective energy saving effort. Delegates will receive a complimentary energy consumption tracker after the event to help pupils understand energy usage in school and track how new initiatives can reduce it. We will also provide a preview of our exciting new game designed to engage children in positive climate action. In our browser-based Climate Crisis game, your pupils can become Zengineers in order to  create a beautiful country with developments and upgrades that raise the happiness levels of the community and reduce its climate impact, whilst learning what really makes a difference to the environment we live in.

As part of the event, you will receive a pre-event pack with ‘goodies’ to enjoy during the evening…the clue is in the name!
Spaces are limited and offered on a first come first-served basis. Please register your place at the Zenergin & Magic networking event here.
