Increases to Water Wholesale Charges from 1 April 2024

Increases to Water Wholesale Charges from 1 April 2024

Your water bill is predominantly made up of charges that are levied by your water wholesaler to provide clean water, drainage and sewerage services. Your supplier (referred to as your retailer) passes these costs on to you  through your bills, plus an uplift for their services. No matter which retailer you are with, the underlying wholesale prices will be the same.

The wholesale charges in both Scotland and England are due to increase on the 1st April 2024. The percentage increase will depend on where your businesses properties are located throughout the country, as each wholesale region’s charges will increase at differing percentages.

The market analysis below shows that each wholesaler expects to make the following average increases:

Measured Wholesale Charges – 2024/2025

Unmeasured Wholesale Charges – 2024/2025

For help in finding out who your wholesaler is, please visit: Who is my wholesaler?

This does not confirm who your water retailer is, however, they will be who you are currently receiving bills from.

If you are in a contract currently, your agreed retail fee percentage should remain the same until your contract end date. Unless stated otherwise within your contract, the wholesale charges will be increased in line with the industry published changes.
