Celebrating Wellness at our Zenergi Strategy Event 2022

Celebrating Wellness at our Zenergi Strategy Event 2022

Zenergi’s ‘Strat’ 2022 took place on 20 and 21 June at the spectacular De Vere Wokefield Estate in Reading. It brought the whole team together for the first time in two years to enjoy a series of team-building activities, motivational talks from guest speakers and our senior leaders, combined with lots of fun and well-deserved down time.

Reflecting on our ‘Year of Wellness’ so far…

Mental health and wellbeing is deeply rooted in our Zen culture where we strive to support our team. We understand there is always room for improvement, which is why the aim of this year’s Strat, alongside giving our team the opportunity to socialise with colleagues and spend time with those they don’t work with day to day, was for our Zen Family to take away more than just good memories.

Read on to find out what the team got up to as part of our special thank you for everyone’s hard work…

The dinner

Following on from our first group-wide social value day, which you can read more about here, the first night allowed for further opportunity to get to know colleagues better, with a prosecco reception, followed by a black-tie dinner, giving our team the chance to dress up, catch up and unwind over a glass of fizz.

Zen Fest

The next day the sun shone down on ‘Zen Fest’, a day that provided a variety of content and a few surprises!

A laughter yoga session led by Laughter Yoga Master Trainer, Lotte Mikkelsen, set the tone for the day, giving the team the opportunity to loosen up, have a giggle and learn new tips to take into the office for those days we need a ‘pick me up’.

Hearing from our leadership team

The team heard from Zenergi’s CEO, Graham, alongside directors Dave, Polly, and Jamie for insights into priorities for the second half of the year; achievements so far, as well as checking in on our goals and how we will get there.

Alastair Campbell

Guest speaker Alastair Campbell topped off the morning content with a session that took us through his insights around success, drawing from his own experience, with tips around what it takes to be successful. The second half of the talk brought it back to Zenergi’s Year of Wellness, centred around the tools and techniques that Alastair has himself learned to develop through his own journey with mental health. Alastair took questions from the team, and everyone had the option to pick up one of Alastair’s signed books, ‘Winners: And How They Succeed’ or ‘Living Better: How I Learned to Survive Depression’.

Zen Fairground

After lunch, the team were let loose into our very own Zen fairground, with giant slides, dodgems, an inflatable obstacle course, a rodeo bull, and outdoor games including Jenga and Connect4.

Into the night…

The party had just begun! The team got glammed up for a second night of socialising, dancing, eating and drinking, with a variety of talented acts providing live music on the stage.

After seeing a few unfamiliar faces in the crowd, the team were kept on their toes with a surprise dancing flash mob – check out Club Mob’s performance below…

A variety of delicious street food was on offer, and the drinks, music, and merriment continued throughout the Longest Night.

Strat was net zero!

Aligned with our ‘Powering a Sustainable Future’ commitments for the planet, we made sure that the carbon footprint of the event was net zero by partnering with the Carbon Club. In total, we mitigated 30,000 kg of carbon and our contribution has supported the following projects…

Continuous cover of sustainable forestry and native broadleaf riparian planting in Doddington North; enhancing ecological diversity through sustainable land-use management in Corriechuillie and creating new native woodland creation for greater habitat connectivity in Tom’s Wood.

And what did the team have to say about the event?

Thank you to all of our guest stars, suppliers, and Zen Family for making this an unforgettable event. We can’t wait for next year.
